轉(zhuǎn)基因食品(Genetically Modified Food;GMF)是利用基因工程技術生產(chǎn)的食品。它具有產(chǎn)量高、營養(yǎng)豐富、抗病力強等優(yōu)勢，但也存在明顯的缺陷—可能會造成基因污染(gene contamination)。因此，轉(zhuǎn)基因食品的安全性一直是一個有爭議的話題。在中國，政府和科學界支持轉(zhuǎn)基因作物的推廣，卻持續(xù)引發(fā)信任危機。鑒于人們對相關農(nóng)產(chǎn)品的安全擔憂，中國政府草擬了新的糧食法，試圖對轉(zhuǎn)基因食品進行更嚴格的管理。該法規(guī)定，任何單位和個人不得在主要糧食品種(principal grain cultivars)上應用轉(zhuǎn)基因技術。

Genetically Modified Food/GMF refers to food produced by applying the technology of genetic engineering. It has the advantages of high productivity, rich nutrition and strong disease resistance, etc. But its defect is also apparent—it may lead to gene contamination. Thus, the safety of GMF remains a controversial topic. In China, the government and the scientific community support the promotion of genetically modified crops, but touch off a continuous trust crisis. In view of people's concern about the safety of related agricultural produces, the Chinese government has drafted a new grain law，intending to impose a stricter management on GMF. The law requires that no entity and individual should apply genetically modified technology to the principal grain cultivars.

英語六級考試翻譯練習題:轉(zhuǎn)基因食品

1.第二句比較長，可拆譯成兩句，前一句說明轉(zhuǎn)基因食品的優(yōu)勢，后一句說它的缺陷。句中含有“但”，表示轉(zhuǎn)折關系，可以使用But來連接兩個句子�！爱a(chǎn)量高、營養(yǎng)豐富、抗病力強”可采用“形容詞+名詞”結(jié)構(gòu)，譯成high productivity, rich nutrition and strong disease resistance。
2.“卻持續(xù)引發(fā)信任危機”這句話中，“引發(fā)”在英文里不是持續(xù)性動詞，不能用continuously來修飾，因此本句可理解為“卻引發(fā)了持續(xù)的信任危機”,譯成but touch off a continuous trust crisis。
3.倒數(shù)第二句“鑒于人們…更嚴格的管理”可將“中國政府草擬了新的糧食法”作為句子主干，把“試圖對轉(zhuǎn)基因食品進行更嚴格的管理”處理成現(xiàn)在分詞短語作狀語，對主語作進一步的補充說明。

4.最后一句可使用賓語從句的結(jié)構(gòu)，譯為The law requires that...�！叭魏螁挝缓蛡€人不得…”翻譯時可將“不”字放在前面，修飾“任何單位和個人”，譯為no entity and individual should apply...，該譯法帶有強調(diào)意味;也可處理成普通譯法 any entity and individual should not apply...。
