就近原則

      謂語動(dòng)詞的單、復(fù)數(shù)形式取決于最靠近它的主語(主要指名詞或代詞)的單、復(fù)數(shù)形式，這種一致關(guān)系所依據(jù)的原則叫作“就近原則”。

(1) “名詞/代詞+or+名詞/代詞”結(jié)構(gòu)后的謂語動(dòng)詞的單、復(fù)數(shù)形式應(yīng)與or后的名詞/代詞一致。

      He or his brothers were to blame.

      應(yīng)該怪他或他的兄弟們。

      You or Mary is going to meet them at the station this afternoon.

      今天下午你或瑪麗要到車站接他們。

(2)“either +名詞/代詞+or+名詞/代詞”結(jié)構(gòu)后的謂語動(dòng)詞的單、復(fù)數(shù)形式應(yīng)與or后的名詞/代詞一致。

      Either the shirts or the sweater is a good buy.

      這些襯衣或者這件毛衣，都很劃算。

      Either you or I am going there.

      要么你去那里，要么我去那里。

(3)“neither+名詞/代詞+nor +名詞/代詞”結(jié)構(gòu)后的謂語動(dòng)詞的單、復(fù)數(shù)形式應(yīng)與nor后的名詞/代詞一致。

      Neither you nor your younger brother is in fault.

      你和你弟弟都沒錯(cuò)。

      Neither his family nor he knows anything about it.

      他的家人和他自己都不知道那件事。

(4)“not only +名詞/代詞+ but (also) +名詞/代詞”結(jié)構(gòu)后的謂語動(dòng)詞的單、復(fù)數(shù)形式應(yīng)與but (also)后的名詞/代詞一致。

      Not only the students but also their teacher is enjoying the film.

      不僅僅是學(xué)生們，他們的老師也在欣賞這部影片。

     Not only our society but also the people in it have changed.

      不僅是社會(huì)變了,社會(huì)上的人也變了。

(5)there be句型的謂語動(dòng)詞應(yīng)與離其最近的主語保持一致。

      There is a teacher and fifty students in the classroom.
